ice cream cones

I have written several other blogs previous to Ice Cream Cone Life and all of these postings had some sort of location-travel specific theme. While these blogs were a fun way for me to relate my adventures to friends and family back at home, they each ultimately ended when either the journey ended, or just when real-life took the place of the novel expedition. Each time this happened I was a bit bummed when I felt that I had nothing more adventurous to relate. A sadness that what I was doing, how I was living was no longer something novel and wild, but rather just me living my normal life.

So thus, I have decided to start a new blog, a blog about the adventure of everyday living. While this everyday living might still be in the midst of a larger adventure, none the less, at some point every journeyman reaches the point where he realizes that he is really just putting one foot in front of the other. He could be journeying home from a long day at the office, or he could be en route to Timbuktu. Regardless, it seems the real adventure is what you make of it. How you interpret your surroundings on a day to day basis, who you meet along the way, what bumps in the road that you lead you off course.

I once heard someone say that she didn't need "an ice cream cone" in her life. "You know...a little something to make you happy, something sweet that melts in five minutes." Perhaps life is just a collection of ice cream cones; we all make the decision whether to view them as something silly and fleeting, a mess of sticky goo, or we choose to take them as they come, gobble them up, enjoy their sweetness as it lasts and know that another one is not too far around the corner.
