F@#$'ing Blizzard

Well, we just spent the entire day, that is, from 8am until midnight + trying to get from Indiana to New York.  We have connecting flights from JFK to various locations abroad and it would be extremely costly and inconvenient to miss them.  So.... when the Blizzard of 2012 struck Indiana the night before our departure we were pretty much screwed.... until, that is, I spoke to a very helpful American Airlines representative who figured out that if we could get to Cincinnati, we might just be able to make it to NYC in time for our flights.  The usual 1 1/2 hour drive from Indianapolis to Cincinnati took 4 hours.  There were multiple times that I really questioned the sanity of that drive, but we made it to Ohio.  Only to discover that our new booking, from Cinci --> NYC via Chicago, had been canceled.  Tears.  Lots of tears.  Luckily, the second very nice American Airlines representative of the day worked some magic and got us on a flight to Newark, NJ.  We could fly to Newark and take a taxi/ train to NYC.  No biggie, right?  Well the flight was delayed multiple times but now, at 2am on December 27th, we have finally made it to the hotel in New York.

It was an epic day.  We might have missed our planned touring of the Big Apple, and the tickets to Wicked went to waste (more tears), but we made it and Pablo even got to see parts of Indiana, Ohio, Kentucky, New Jersey, and New York, all in one day!

More updates to come on our recent travels.  I hope everyone had a Happy Holiday and THANK YOU to all of the guest bloggers that prepared posts!

    1. no joke! i knew that Christmas Wish would backfire!! it was pretty, it just would have been much nicer to enjoy it while sitting next to a fire, rather than driving in it! Seriously, the on ramp to 74 was terrifying.
