Valentines Day Adventure: Part II

And then, when everyone was finished playing on the playground, the guys took us to a 1,200 year old palace!  I am sure, just what you all did on your Valentines Day?  We might not have a lot of date-options here, but Qasr Al Alya was really cool.  This place is less than an hour from where I live and it is said to have been built by either Umar bin Abdul Aziz or Zubaidah, the wife of Harron Rasheed.  It was used as either a government building or a pilgrim service center as it is along the route taken by the Prophet.

We had a fun time exploring around and checking out the intricately laid stones.  I thought the arches were really cool, unbelievable that they are still standing!

  1. This is my kind of date! I love seeing these old ruins rising from the desert. And the abaya is fantastic. Particularly with the pink aviators!!

    1. There's nothing like a splash of pink to spice up an abaya!

  2. Unbelievable 1. that the hand made walls are still standing, and beautiful, and 2. amazing that they have not been covered by blowing sand. Obviously quite windy out there.

    1. Well what is still visible above ground is much small than the actual structure, some of it has been covered by sand but yes it is amazing that any of it still exists!
